{Tuesday Trends} Silhouettes

Posted on May 1 2012 by Stephanie

I’m going to keep this short and sweet so you can get back to your morning coffee & muffin and/or job. Here goes:

Sillouette Sillouhette Silhouette is the hardest word to spell, but the easiest/cutest graphic element to bring into your wedding decor. As you can see from these lovely examples above.

So friends, let’s think about this for a little while…

Happy Tuesday!

{Typography} KatieRose

KatieRose is such a lovely font. According to the calligrapher who designed it, it was made “to have an elegant, handwritten feel, without the fussiness of traditional calligraphic scripts.” Its sculptural strokes are easy on the eyes, luckily, at both big and small sizes.

If your budget is such that you have to pass on traditional calligraphy, but are still dying for the look, I’d ask your stationer togive KatieRose a try. It won’t have that special calligraphy sense of touch (the ink makes it a little raised) but it will still portray the look of it. And that’s a win-win for everyone!

Happy Friday!

{Color Theory} Volume Eleven

Here are some of my favorite original color palettes to date! Mostly because of their extra-awesome-brightness.

Multi-Turquoise: I’ve always been a fan of two different shades of the same color paired together; it’s like you can’t get it wrong, which makes this multi-turquoise and gray combo is definitely a favorite. This would be a stellar option for a summer wedding on the beach. Add in some yellows or maybe a light pink if you’re itching for even more color.

Super Bright Spring: This palette is the definition of springtime. The brights of the yellow and green mixed with the toned down blues make it fun and inviting. I’m going out on a limb to say that if you’re into color-blocking, this would be a RAD scheme for your wedding. Seriously. Also, finding centerpiece and bridesmaid flowers will be really easy with these colors.

What favorite color is on your radar today?

Happy Wednesday!

{Tuesday Trend} Chalk

This is a trend I can totally hop on the bandwagon with. I love this chalk lettering style that couple’s are using is SO many aspects of their wedding days. From invitations to escort cards, from signs to full-blown murals! They can be professionally done, or by a friend who really likes to doodle. Either way, these chalk handwritten details are a great way to add personality to your wedding day!

How do you like this trend?

Okay, so I borrowed this Purple Summer color palette from Lela Rose‘s awesome shoes, but I just though these three colors make the perfect summer color scheme. That bright green and light lavender mixed with the deep blue-ish violet just scream “super fun summer wedding!” don’t you think?

I call this scheme Vintage Princess. It has a subtle bit of girlyness to it, which I love, but it’s definitely fits that vintage trend style with muted tones of pinks and red. I can definitely see this being used for a late summer wedding, or even an outdoor early fall wedding. How do you feel about this palette?

Happy colorful Wednesday!

(Tuesday Trend} Ombre Inspiration

This phenomenombre (ombre for short) is taking over the wedding world! Bride after bride after photographer after blog are all getting their hands on the gorgeous faded-color look that the ombre style lends.

Fun fact: the noun version of ombre means “a card came that was popular in Europe in the 17th century”. But the definition we’re talking about is the adjective, meaning “having colors or tones that shade into each other from light to dark”

Take a look:

How fun is this trend, yes? Have you seen it done creatively? Are you using this type of color treatment at your own wedding? We have one couple using the ombre effect (ooh I like that.. the ombre effect..) and we love it!

Share your thoughts and inspirations with us on this trend!

{Typography} Ornaments

Accolades C is a collection of ornaments. No, not the ornaments you put on your Christmas tree, the kind of ornaments that are used in design. They usually come as a collection or family, and are basically extra embellishments to accentuate or finish off a design. Like the examples above, ornaments are often used in logos, and in our industry, in your personalized monogram! There are so many kinds of ornaments (a well-designed font family usually comes with lots of options), so we can whittle them down to find a combination that fits your wedding suite style.

Have you ever thought about using some sort of typographical ornament in your wedding stationery? Maybe we can help you find the perfect one!

Happy Friday!
