Reina is Maximiliano Sproviero’s newest project, and it’s definitely our font crush this week.

A little history behind it:

“…inspired by many calligraphy and typography masters of our past such as Didot, Bodoni and the incredible Herb Lubalin, its aim was to incorporate the decorative accolades from blackletter and copperplate styles of calligraphy into a Modern Roman typeface.”

What I admire about Reina was that it was designed to be playful and formal at the same time. If none of its alternates aren’t included, it is a useful typeface for short to medium length texts. But, when using its open-type decorative glyphs, it works perfectly for headlines or call out text (think: your names on a wedding invitation!) =)

Another cool part of the Reina font family is that it includes an “engraved” version, which can be great for couples’ whose wedding’s are taking more of a ‘vintage’ spin around the block. Also, those of you who like the vintage movie poster invites? This is your font. Talk to your stationer about it!

Happy Friday!

P.S. Kelli’s baby is here! But she’ll write more on that later, when she’s had a little time to sleep =)

Bold Flower:
This bold/hot pink is nicely balanced by the dark blue and fern green. This would be the perfect color scheme for late summer evening wedding!

Au Naturale:
If you’re like me and love fruit, then you’re going to love these colors. Drawing colors straight from the apples and oranges in my recent fruit smoothie, this color scheme is fresh and healthy. Use it for a hot summer wedding on your grandparent’s farm, or bring it straight into the autumn months.

What colors are you crushing on today? Share with us!

{Tuesday Trends} Custom Postage

We’re loving the trend of couple’s choosing to have custom stamps made for their invitation suite.

Getting to design your own stamps helps to further the look of your stationery suite and definitely avoids having an eye-sore up in the corner of your envelope (have you seen those ‘Aloha’ stamps?! those just don’t mesh well with beautiful paper…)

Most people use one of two things: a picture of themselves, or their names/monogram. But we’ve seen people use a pattern that carries trough their entire suite, and also illustrations that also have to do with the overall design.

There are lots of custom stamp-making sites out there, but most recently we’ve used Zazzle.com. It’s easy for anyone to make their own stamps!

Are you thinking about doing this for your invitations? I am… =)

{Typography} Jacques & Gilles

I find Jacques & Gilles to one of the most interesting hand-lettered fonts I’ve seen (by a fave font designer, Emily Lime). It has a split personality! You see, the main idea behind this font is that there are two “personalities” depending on how you use it.

What do you mean? Well, you can find Jacques’ character when you are typing in all lowercase letters, but then you see Gilles’ when a project calls for using all uppercase. But the coolest part is they look great together as well. Two peas in a pod, I tell ya!

This font is great! You all should go buy/use it for your wedding related endeavors. =)

Burnt Autumn:
This color scheme fits perfectly in with those of you who have weddings planned between September and November. It’s warm, it’s autumn-y, and that burnt orange will look great on your bridesmaids. Promise.

Rainbow Bubbles:
This color palette surprised me, because I could have sworn bubbles were clear. BUT LOOK! There’s a color scheme inside! Light purples, blues, greens make up this light and airy palette. Would you use this for your wedding?

Happy Wednesday!

{Foil Stamping}

Foil stamping is a trend we’re really excited to be able to use this season.

We love the sophisticated look that foil stamping brings to an invitation suite. It’s shiny! And catches people’s attention right away.

Go subtle with it and only use it on one piece of your suite (say, the RSVP card). Or! Go all out and include this technique throughout out the whole suite. Switch things up by using different colors of foil (silver and gold are popular, but you can also find blue, pink, green, basically any color you want.)

I’m getting cliche on you, but the possibilities really are endless.

How have you seen foil stamping used creatively? Have you designed a suite using this trend? Are you a bride who wants to incorporate this into your wedding day? Let us know!

Happy Tuesday!

Light & Bubbly:
Who doesn’t like a little bit of bubbly at their wedding? This seafoam green, light honey yellow and champagne combination stands out as a lovely spring color palette. Make it also work for deep-into-the-summer weddings by mixing in some coral accents.

Pop of Pink:
We’ve got a bright one on our hands! These chartreuse, magenta, and muted pink colors work so well together and honestly could be used for a wedding any time of the year. For spring, play up the light pink, for summer, pump up the chartreuse. For fall, go crazy with the magenta, and winter? Well, winter you need as much color as you can get, so feel free to use them all excessively. =)

Sidenote: I just realized I am wearing absolutely no color today. Black pants, black and white striped shirt, silver earrings. WOW. I am super boring. Hope you’ve got a more exciting color scheme going on today!
